Personal Blog Post

For this project we had to get the special effects from the server and pick one of the backgrounds. Then with mask we block out the background. Next we put special effects on the back ground and the video is good. In this project we learned how to mask backgrounds and how to change the effects to make them more realistic. If i could change this i would take more time making sure the lighting around where the explosion was lit up. But i thought i did the explosion good and the masking. I will use the masking and the explosions more in ecomm after this.

End Of Year Web Design

Technology

In Web Design this year I have learned a lot of skills in programs such as Dreamweaver, Photoshop and Adobe Flash. I learned these through the various projects we have had throughout the year. I had some challenges with making things move in Flash. One of my strengths was having good content for my web pages and having quality work. One of my weaknesses is getting my work done on time. I have improved on this throughout the year. But i still need to work on my Adobe flash. I would probably change my work ethic in class if i could. 

Collaboration

In Ecomm we had a lot of projects where we had to collaborate. I learned about this from being around and working with people. It is important because in a career as an adult you will have to be able to collaborate with coworkers. Although, I did have some challenges with getting group members motivated to do their work. I am a strong leader and organizer for projects. One weakness I have is that I am a little too critical with some people and then they get mad. I have improved by trying to be more understanding with people but I still have work to do. I will use these skills through out my entire life with coworkers and classmates.

Communication

Communication in ecomm is vital to getting better and getting reviews. I would communicate with the people around me constantly trying to get help with projects or learning new skills. My strengths in this area is I'm a pretty friendly guy so i can talk well with a wide variety of people. One weakness is sometimes I talk too much. I have gotten better with this through the year though and have started getting more of my work done. I obviously will be communicating for the rest of my life so those skills will last forever.

Project Management 

This year i really understood the value of getting projects done on time and making a deadline. In this class we were held to a higher standard than freshman year and needed to do our best to get our work done on time. One of my weaknesses is not being able to get my work done in time. But as the year went on i have gotten better at this and turned in my projects. But i still need to work on the quality. I would change my attitude earlier in the year about the projects.

Leadership

In this class we haven't done a lot of things that involve leading as most the projects were solo but i have learned how to work with others by helping them and getting help back. This is important because you can gain knowledge of how others think of your work and their different styles towards web design. I did face challenges with people earlier in the year not wanting to be friendly and give me advice but thats okay.

Strengths/Weaknesses

One of my strengths is that I am good at finding strong information for different projects. I am very good at scavenging information off the web. But i can always improve on this and find more credible sources. One of my Weaknesses is Adobe Flash. I have gotten better at this through our projects and i have Learned more and more about moving objects in flash. 

What I Would Change

If i could go back and change something this year i would go back and try harder in my 3rd and 4th quarters. I pushed a lot of the projects back and made in very hard on me at the end of the year. So I wish i would have done these when i was supposed to but i made these up and it is better now.

Conclusion

So, In Conclusion of this year, I think it was very successful. I have had a great time in ecomm this year and made a lot of good relationships in this class. I will always remember the fun times i had in here and i hope those relationships last. I will miss being in ecomm but i feel that going to Olathe West is the path I'm supposed to go on.

Thesaurus Extension

This extension is used for finding synonyms of words. If you find a word on a webpage you can find multiple synonyms of it. It is good for bloggers or just people who want to be better writers. Its in tended audience is bloggers. You would use this to make your writing better.

 1. First find a word that you want to be better or stronger.

2. Right click on it. Go down to the thesaurus extension and it will give you multiple synonyms for the word.

Colorzilla Extension

This extension is called colorzilla. With this extension you can find any color you see. It is used to find the rgb or hexadecimal of any color on a webpage. The intended audience is probably designers who need color codes.

 1. Click button at the top to bring up a menu with different tools to use.










2.Use the Pick color from page tool and put you
cursor over the color you are trying to find and
the rgb and hexadecimal codes will come up.

Dictionary Extension

Dictionary Extension

This extension is used for finding the definitions of words that you see on a website that you don't know. It is used for a greater understanding of words. It helps because you might get tripped up when reading a web page and it will help you. The intended audience is anyone.

 1. Highlight a word in any web page and the definition will come up.

 2. Use the dictionary button at the top and look a word up.

End Of Year Reflection Animation

Technology

In Animation this year I have learned a lot of skills in programs such as maya, after effects and photoshop. I learned these through the various projects we have had throughout the year. I had some challenges with modeling in maya. One of my strengths was putting my projects in after effects and rendering them. One of my weaknesses is getting my work done on time. I have improved my lighting throughout the year. But i still need to work on my 3d animation. I would probably change my work ethic in class if i could.

Responsive design

For the past few weeks in my design class we have been learning about responsive design. This is essentially making websites accessible across different platforms and is extremely helpful to mobile users. It is very important because today the majority of people have a mobile device rather than a desktop. This gives them a completely different experience using websites.

The main thing that was necessary in order for me to make this website responsive was the use of media queries and percentages. Using percentages for sizes rather than pixels helps a lot because it make the size of an object completely relative to the size of the screen. I also used media queries to rearrange things like the navigation bar on mobile devices so the text isn't extremely small. Overall I am happy with the results.

new index

I thought that the template was easier because it gave me all the necessary things to make the website. I only had to add the information about myself and about my websites with pictures and change the color scheme. I believe the overall look of my website improved because  there are screenshots and links to my websites unlike my other index that only had the links. My website also looks more professional than the older index that I had. One bad thing that I encountered was attaching my css to the the html. When I was looking at my website on the browser non of the css would show up so I had to get help from the teacher.

Responsive Web Design

When you add responsive web design to your web page it makes look good on all devices like a desktop, tablet or phone which, is why it has become so popular. With the increase use of hand-held devices. Responsive web design is about using CSS and HTML to resize, hide, shrink, enlarge or move content to look good on any screen. A media query is a CSS technique that includes a block of CSS properties that only exist if certain conditions are true. Media query also includes breakpoints where certain parts will behave differently on each side of the breakpoint like rows and columns.

This is the website in its smallest window which would be about how it would look on your phone or a device like that. In this website there are also menus that when in this smallest view have a completely different format than in the bigger windows.

This is the medium size view. This view is almost the exact same as the biggest view except the image is shrinked down a bit. In different menus the same happens where the format is the same but the size is different.

This is the full page view. In here everything is spread out. The menus in this view are very spaced out and simple looking

History of the Flash Player

This is a website made in flash for the Cuban Missile Crisis

Adobe Flash turned the internet upside down when it came out because it allowed them to have web based video, animation, and interactivity with sites and they also made it to where the site looked the same no matter what the person was using. When the iPhone came out Steve jobs did not allow for flash to be used on them because it was too insecure and resource intensive. But flash was still used for android phones and for Youtube. In 2011, Adobe released a product called Edge Animate. It was used as a new way to make HTML5 content making HTML5 the universally supported service. In 2015, Adobe discontinued Edge Animate and renamed the flash player to animate cc. One company that is still using flash a lot is Facebook. Recently, Google announced that flash will be blocked on chrome unless you go to the settings and turn it off. The future doesn't look so hot for flash content or websites. Currently it is completely dependent on the internet archivists.

Topic Site

Topic Site

I was assigned to make a website over a topic of my choice that I have some connection to. So I started by finding a topic and i chose cherokee indians because I am 1/32 cherokee indian. When making this web site I learned a lot about div tags and finding good information online. I also learned that you need to check to make sure your website uploads. One thing I would have done differently is add another page to show how I relate to the topic. Something I did well was finding good pictures that relate to the topic. This project is good experience for me and will help me with many projects down the road because we had to make it on our own.
