Social media hurts girl's education

Yesterday in ecomm we read an article called "they loved your GPA, then they saw you tweets" by Natasha Singer it was about a girl who went on a college visit to Bowdoin College. While she made posts on her twitter talking about the other students in a negative way. She never thought that the college would look at her social media to she what kind of person she was. They thought that was not the kind of person that they want in their school. Then they decided to decline her admission all together.

What Surprised Me

A lot of this article was surprising because its crazy to think that colleges look at your social media but here were the top things that surprised me. First was that the girl posted disparaging comments on twitter about her fellow attendees because i thought it was crazy that someone would do that. Next was that the college denied that girl in the end due to these posts. Finally there is that people thought it was unfair for the colleges to look at social media but i was wondering why they would put it on there in the first place if they didnt want people to see it.

What Confused Me

There were a lot of confusing things in this article mainly because of people being dumb. The first thing that i thought was confusing is that colleges might find an account that might be an imposter account which confused me because they acted like it happens a lot when it sounds really crazy. Another is that an applicant posted offensive comments about his high school teacher because i wasnt sure why anyone would put these things on social media.

Affect on my Social Media

This really has no affect on my social media. I dont ever post anything bad on social media because that is just dumb. Plus why would i want people to think of me as a bad person. I want people to know me for me.
